These are strange days between Christmas and New Years. I don’t tend to accomplish much other than eating too much See’s candy, reading and playing some games. I have eaten, read, and played some really cool stuff though and I want to share.
First off all the See’s milk Chocolate Bordeaux is the most delicious candy in the world and I will hear no arguments to the contrary. This is not a sponsored post but if anyone from See’s candy is reading this, I would gladly accept money to extol the many virtues of the Bordeaux in future posts and at greater length.
Second, I am about 11 issues into Absolute Batman and it is one of the best comics I have ever read. This is a sort of reimagining of the Batman lore with the same characters and locations but all new back stories, motivations and relationships. I don’t want to spoil anything but it somehow manages to deliver a Batman story that feels fresh and classic at the same time.
Started reading Absolute Batman and it’s so good I had to do a quick sketch. Might clean it up later.

Third, you need to play the game Hot Streak right away. I heard a lot of good things about this game at PAX Unplugged, so I picked up a copy and put it under the tree for the family. We cracked into it this weekend and holy shit this game is fun! The game itself has players betting on a foot race run by four goofy mascots. You will flip cards that direct you to move the mascots in various ways like running forward a number of spaces. There are also cards like “turn around” and “fall down” though. It’s a simple system but you end up with absolutely wild races with mascots knocking each other down, going the wrong direction, running off the track and crawling across the finish line. Players bet on the mascot they hope will win as well as side bets that ask if specific events will happen during a given race. I can tell you that my entire family was up and shouting at these fucking plastic figures like they had real money on them! It’s an excellent party game that everyone can learn in about 10 minutes. Don’t skip it!
