Mutual respect for one another’s time is an important indicator of a good employer-employee relationship. Candidates should consider if their time is being respected when they are asked to complete assignments that involve a substantial amount of free work. This author was only willing to do so much, as he believed he had already demonstrated his skills in other ways. That may have cost him the employment opportunity in the end, but at least he respected his own time enough not to give it up for someone else!
