Some people just have a natural energy that makes others feel comfortable sharing things they might otherwise not. A friendly face and/or a welcoming smile can be a recipe for hearing deep trauma from someone you’re still struggling to remember the name of. Apparently, this extends far beyond personal run-ins and into the world of celebrity. Bobby Moynihan appears to be one of those people.
When he was a cast member on Saturday Night Live, the fact that he seemed like one of the more personable members of the cast certainly helped him cement himself as a mainstay, but at the same time, it may have made some fans a little too comfortable with him. To the point where they took it as a given that he would be the sort of person who would happily help them execute their own pervy little designs.
Moynihan recently appeared on the podcast Syd & Olivia Talk Shit, and hosts Syd Heller and Olivia DeLaurentis wheedled out of him some of the most insane fan mail he’d ever received. His tales included some highly singular pieces, including what has to be the first friendly inclusion of a handful of bullets in an envelope. He also mentioned, however, an entire category of fan mail that apparently kept cropping up: letters requesting that Moynihan assist the sender in procuring pictures of other cast members’ feet.
Don’t Miss
This is something that extends well beyond the umbrella of sex positivity. Parasocialism with celebrities is one thing, but being convinced that they’re down to help you with what certainly feels like a sex crime? That’s a level of pervert confidence that leaves me positively gobsmacked.
It’s also got to be a depressing P.S. to find on multiple pieces of fan mail. Moynihan was, presumably, pleased to hear from someone who enjoyed his comedy, only to find that they’d also evaluated him and gotten the vibe of “likely to take covert, nonconsensual foot pics.”
Look, foot guys: We’re all trying to be cool with you. It’s the year 2025. All we ask is that you get your brothers-in-arms (or toes) in check.
