Beck Bennett Is Apparently Getting Roasted in the ‘Superman’ Cast Group Chat

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Superman cast member and ex-model Sara Sampaio discussed the movie, but it was an aside that caught my attention. The reporter asked if there was a cast group chat, and not only did Sampaio confirm the existence of such a chat, but she added that the “whole group chat is just us bullying Beck.”

Beck, of course, being Beck Bennett, who plays Steve Lombard in the movie.

DC Studios/Warner Bros

What are they bullying him for? What foibles are being drawn into the light? How hard are they going? Most of all, is it actually funny?

We sadly receive no further information, but I do have a hunch as to the last question: That Beck Bennett, who is genuinely hilarious, is probably flooded with a deluge of really poor quality banter. The fact is, the general public is usually not great at roasting, and dramatic actors are often some of the least funny people alive. I mean, lets just look at the potential roasters in the Superman group chat:

DAVID CORENSWET: Probably not very funny. If youre that handsome, you need to have had a really dark childhood to have ever developed humor. Seems nice though! Feels like the quiet guy in the group chat, lots of “haha” reacts.

RACHEL BROSNAHAN: Probably actually much funnier than given credit for, and Ms. Maisel doesnt hurt. Still, if Brosnahan made fun of me, I’d sink myself in a lake.

NICHOLAS HOULT: Hes probably secretly funny. I feel like people who play villains are almost always good hangs.

NATHAN FILLION: Funny! But I dont think he really understands group chats. Dad vibes. Sending those really small, 200x200px images and responding “?” when people cant see them.

SAMPAIO: Probably not very funny. The same Hollywood Reporter interview involves her not understanding a joke where someone calls her “Mutant Toes” in the movie because she has, quote: “Pretty feet.” Which doesnt bode well.

EDI GATHEGI: Talks a lot about the “philosophy” and “drive” of his character in interviews, which, thats his process! Doesn’t scream “lighthearted” however.

ISABELLA MERCED: Child actor, so total wild card. That kind of life is a real dice-roll, personality wise.

ANTHONY CARRIGAN: Definitely funny. Come on. Noho Hank. Very possibly has a side chat with Bennett.

SKYLER GISONDO: Probably one of the funnier guys in his group of friends. Sort of person who would try stand-up exactly once.

This is all pure speculation, of course. I beg them to prove me wrong! Release the chat! Or, at the very least, Beck Bennett, if youre reading this: tell me if Im close. I promise its off-the-record.
