This teen really just wanted to snowboard, but a neighboring woman had other plans for her.
Some people will complain that kids are on their screens too much, that they don’t play outside anymore and come home when the street lights come on. Well, it’s thanks to people like this, who try to micromanage children just for existing in outdoor spaces.
As this person explained, when she was 13, she was just trying to snowboard. One great detail she drops is that she was rocking a hot pink Barbie snowsuit, and that her snowboard was a black and electric green Monster Energy, which was the style at the time! Very iconic, very cute, anyway, on to the story.
A neighbor saw that bright pink blur zipping across her landscape and was frankly aghast at the audacity. She was unhappy that the teen was snowboarding down this local hill, which was fully open to the public, by the way. The neighbor didn’t like that this teen was snowboarding because there were also little kids who apparently used the hill to sled on. The teen clarifies that she snowboarded there all the time (and that she herself was still very tiny for her age), so presumably, with all of her experience, she would be able to zip around any child she saw in the way. Or she could just check before even snowboarding down the hill to see if there were people in the way. This is honestly very common, and it’s a strange concern for this woman to have. Has she never been to a sledding hill on a day when the kids have off from school? There will be dozens of kids of all ages, all sledding or snowboarding down the hill at the same time. Sure, accidents might happen, but most likely, everyone will have a perfectly safe day before heading home to warm up and sip hot cocoa.
Check out the full story below, which is an excellent look at how this neighbor learned to be more respectful towards other people around her. Be careful who you’re talking to… it’s a small world, and you never know who they might know!
